Clipgenie
A clipboard manager for the Mac with on-device AI. Summarise, translate, rewrite and clean up what you copied with one keystroke, and ask questions about your recent clips.
What it does
Clipgenie remembers what you copy and lets you act on it. Pick a clip to summarise, translate, fix its tone, clean the formatting, extract links or addresses, or format JSON. You can also ask questions about your recent clips in plain English.
It lives in the menu bar. Links, code, JSON and colour swatches each display in their own format, and you can search the text inside copied images.
How it works
- Smart Action. Clipgenie predicts the one transform a clip needs, and one keystroke runs it.
- Quick actions. Summarise, translate, rewrite, clean, extract or format JSON.
- Ask your clipboard. A plain-English question returns an answer that cites the clips it drew on.
- Privacy. Clips from password managers are skipped.
On-device AI needs macOS 26 on an Apple-silicon Mac with Apple Intelligence. On other Macs, Clipgenie works as a plain clipboard manager on macOS 14 or later.
How the lab built it
Apple’s models, on the device
The Smart Action and the retrieval over recent clips both run on Apple Foundation Models. Clip text stays on the Mac, and the app runs in the macOS sandbox. Each answer cites the clips behind it, so you can check where it came from.
An optional key of your own
An optional bring-your-own-key mode handles long documents. It sends only the clip you act on, with no Clipgenie server in between.
Who it’s for
Clipgenie is for Mac users who copy and paste all day: writers, analysts, developers and support teams. It turns the clipboard from a single slot into a searchable history you can act on, with the AI running on the Mac.
