The problem
Bunkering is the supply of fuel to ships. Deals are frequent, time-sensitive and quoted port by port, and a vessel will not wait for paperwork. Aspect, ION’s ETRM (energy trading and risk management) platform, is the company’s system of record for deals, positions and exposure. Entering each bunkering trade into it by hand is slow and invites errors.
What we built
A bunkering blotter for a commodity and energy trading company in the UAE. A blotter is the running list of deals for a desk, showing what has been agreed and what state each trade is in. Ours is integrated with Aspect, so a trade is captured once and flows into the system of record without being keyed in twice.
What it changes
Bunkering trades are quicker to complete, from the first quote to the booked deal. The desk works from one live list, and Aspect stays the single source of truth.
